The Great Pyramid of Giza, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Temple of Artemis of Ephesus, The Mausoleum at Hilicarnassus, The Colossus of Rhodes, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria all have something in common. They were known to the ancient Greeks at the SEVEN WONDERS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD. This list was called the
theamata, or a list of "things to be seen" or "must-sees" around the Mediterranean world in which the Greeks lived and traveled. They were very aware of these places significance and importance in the world, and after this quest you will too. Just as the Greeks traveled to see these places, you will take a virtual tour around the internet and discover why the Greeks thought these places must be seen, and their historical significance. See if the Greeks were right, and enjoy your trip!


You will choose one of the following tasks to complete on this tour.
Create a tour guide mulit-media presentation (Photostory, Powerpoint, Video) of one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. Act as if you are there giving a tour to bus full of tourists. Be sure to inform them of the location of the wonder, the date it was built, builder, historical significance, and any additional interesting facts. Be sure to be creative and keep your audience interested!

Create a travel brochure (Microsoft Word, Excel, or Publisher) on one of the seven wonders of the world that a travel agency would give to its customers to convince them to visit the wonder. Use your creative skills in design to make the travel brochure informative and visually appealing. Be sure to include information on the location of the wonder, the date it was built, builder, historical significance, and any additional interesting facts.

2. Decide which task (listed above) that you and a group of no more than 3 will complete on your wonder.
3. Follow the links below under RESOURCES to find all of the information you need on you wonder.
4. Fill out the research Graphic Organizer (provided in class) to make sure you have all the information you need for you task.
5. Create your task based on the rubric below.
